You wouldn’t believe it, but manufacturers are still churning out smartphones based on Windows Mobile. Phones running Microsoft’s dilapidated mobile operating system are a lot more fiddly to use compared to Apple’s dreamy iPhone but are arguably bett...

Hewlett Packard has produced a great device with the iPAQ Voice Messenger; however, it is a shame that the handset is let down by a poor D-pad. As this is so unreliable, using the phone becomes a case of trial and error rather than smooth as silk...

Tidy design and good keyboard.

Poor optical controller.

This is HP’s flagship Windows Smartphone. It sits alongside the HP Data Messenger, its Windows Mobile brother. It’s a fantastic looking phone but, in my opinion, and like its keyboarded brother, it’s not ready for general use. However for the record he...

Design and features With a shiny deep blue fascia colour and silver sides and back, the iPAQ Voice Messenger is certainly a corporate phone. Its dual-QWERTY keyboard is augmented by two capacitive touch buttons under the screen, which unfortunately som...

The iPAQ Voice Messenger is at best, mediocre. Theres nothing here that HTC, BlackBerry or Apple dont already do better, and unless your company already has a great HP contract, its hard to recommend.

The HP iPAQ Voice Messenger is a stylish smartphone that is definitely worth some attention. Unfortunately, HP has let down the iPAQ brand by implementing a frustrating control system and giving the Voice Messenger an uncomfortable keypad. The HP iPAQ Voice Messenger certainly looks the part. It has been completely redesigned and looks nothing like previous iPAQ mobile phones. Its quite sleek and stylish, and is similar in stature to the RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8120 smartphone. It feels solid, th...

HP's Voice Messenger has one notable feather in its cap: it's the first time we've seen a phone with the Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard operating system on board. It's the updated version of Microsoft's mobile OS for non-touchscreen phonesand, unlike its...

HP's first Windows Smartphone was the cheap and cheerful 514 Voice Messenger . This follow up is an altogether more expensive and luxurious affair and costs almost double the price weighing in at around £330 SIM-free. As its name implies the handset is a...

There's plenty to like about the Voice Messenger. Style-wise it's right on the button and it's got a good range of features and speedy performance. However, HP has hit a real bum note with the optical control pad which has affected our scores. It's so cru...

The first thing you’ll notice about HP’s new arrival is how light it is. Indeed, we spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to work out how to take the back casing off so we could insert the battery…only to find it was already present and correct insi...

HP’s bold foray into the consumer space is to be congratulated but, alas, the end result is not. While it’s a fine piece of kit and likely to find a fan base, there are plenty of competing devices out there vying for consumers’ attention...

THE first thing that I noticed about the HP iPAQ Voice Messenger is the Qwerty keypad. I generally do not like phones or smartphones that don’t come with a regular keypad with T9 input. This is because I find it very difficult to type messages u...

Slim and sleek; handy dedicated buttons; bright screen.

Qwerty keypad and navigation button are not user friendly; the phone can be unresponsive at times.

The sleek and sturdy HP iPAQ Voice Messenger is let down by its rather crammed Qwerty keypad but there are other things going for it. It has all the important features such as WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth which you look for in a smartphone. The affordable...
