The advantage of a compact keyboard is the minimised reach out distance to your computer mouse. If you would like to keep this effect, then you can choose to position the external numeric keypad on the opposite side of your mouse hand or put it away all together when you’re not using the numeric functionalities. Also, the fact that you can alternate using the numerical keypad between your left and right hand helps to distribute the muscle activity between both hands. This flexibility in using the S-board 840 Numeric leads to a healthier way of working, and increases not only your comfort, but also your productivity at work.

A compact keyboard without the numeric keypad, which allows placing the mouse closer to the keyboard. Research shows that 90% of users do not use the numeric keypad, if ever. With a compact keyboard you work more comfortably, because it lowers the reaching distance to the mouse (Cook C. et al., 1998). This lightens the load on the forearms and shoulder. Dark letters on a clear background make reading easier (ISO 9241) and contribute to higher productivity (Snyder, 1990).

With the S-Board Numeric you can conveniently change your view from the bright monitor down to the light keys with dark lettering. The light colour avoids high contrasts and reflections, this guarantees the best readability. The font size is 4 mm, which makes it easy to recognise the letters and directly start with your data entry.

The S-Board 840 Numeric has a scissor mechanism which leads to a quieter way of typing and it requires less force to press keys. The user will still recognize the pressure point of the keys while typing, and at the same time does not have to apply to much key pressure force to press down the keys. A scissor mechanism guarantees an appropriate balance between strength of actuation and typing speed.

The S-Board 840 Numeric has a key centre distance of 19 mm according to the DIN EN ISO norm. The concave key shape with an inner curvature fits perfectly to your fingertips . The key with the five, which is in the middle of the numeric, has a little bump. The eight extra keys for the calculator function have a convex key shape, so those are curved like the exterior of a circle. All those aspects guarantee a better orientation, precisely typing and minimal typing errors during work.

You can start working immediately with your S-Board 840 Numeric. Thanks to the plug-and-play function, you just need to plug the numeric in one of the USB ports of your computer and wait till the hardware is automatically found. There are two LEDs which show if the keypad is turned or and if the NumLock is activated.

This external numeric has a calculator function with eight extra keys. So, you can solve arithmetic tasks faster and more easily. With this numeric it is possible to switch between the keypad mode and calculator mode when you are connected to your computer. Or you can start calculating on the numeric and use the SEND button to transfer your calculation result to your computer.

You can switch on the integrated navigation keys with the NumLock and use conveniently the functions: go to home, page up and down, end, insert, and delete. Those integrated navigation keys lead to more efficiency.
